INMARSAT+GPRS = transport fleet monitoring and control at any location on Earth

M2M telematics announces the start of commercial sales of the dual-mode telematics terminal SureLinx 8100 from the lineup of BusinessNavigator® products unveiled in May 2008. This terminal is special in that it uses two channels to transmit navigation and telematics data: satellite (Inmarsat D+ /IsatM2M) and cellular (GSM/GPRS) links. This feature, on top of the standard functionality of this type of devices, enables SureLinx 8100 to switch automatically to the satellite data link whenever the cellular signal is lost or when the asset being tracked enters the international roaming zone. It stores location data in the terminal’s nonvolatile memory while in satellite mode and automatically transmits all accumulated data when the cellular connection is restored. It also offers plenty of other features.

By positioning the SureLinx 8100 terminal as a new hi-tech product, M2M telematics mainly targets the needs of international carriers, developers, oil production and survey companies. Thanks to its dual mode functionality, SureLinx 8100 ensures failsafe operation of the monitoring system and reliable transport fleet control on even the most challenging stretches of road and in any locales without specific territorial boundaries.

Alexei Smiatskikh, M2M telematics Chief Commercial Officer: «Fast and failsafe data transmission to the telematics server and dispatcher centers keeps users informed about asset location and movement, and the status of its core systems, which is the essence of this product's functionality. Regardless of whether or not cellular coverage is available in the transport vehicle’s location, SureLinx 8100 will operate effectively. In the absence of a GSM/GPRS signal, the terminal will switch to a satellite data link and continue transmitting without any data quality or control loss».

Svetlana Khadonova, M2M telematics Marketing Director: «Thanks to its up-to-date functionality essential to highly effective transport system operation, SureLinx 8100 enables any transport company or industrial enterprise to optimize time costs and expenses when working at remote facilities or transporting cargo, which is especially relevant in the conditions of the financial crisis».
